In a dream returned to Chang'an, blood drenches the Xuanwu Gate. In the depths of the Taiji Palace, there is only endless sorrow. The ringing declaration that the people are the water and the ruler is the boat still echoes across the land of Chang'an, yet the iron hooves of foreign tribes once again trample through Yumen Pass. What hatred could compare to this?

When Li Shimin in his tomb sees his subjects suffering, what kind of roar should he let out? I can only beat the railings in frustration and see the nine provinces sink!

My heart is also filled with vexation and anger, wishing I could cross the river of history, pluck down flying stars, gather the sun and moon, and turn heaven and earth upside down.

Very well. Hearing the ghostly cries outside the window, the rustling autumn rain, I will trim a blunt brush and write an extra chapter for the flourishing Tang, removing the dark parts. My Great Tang has no sorrow, only the heroism of spears and iron horses, emperors whose grandeur can swallow the sun and moon, battle-hardened generals bathed in blood, lofty scholars in high crowns and broad robes, gentle and virtuous empresses, fathers kind to sons and sons dutiful to fathers, and an enduring golden age. This is my Great Tang, my "Tang Zhuan."
