Rule-Based Horror: Starting from a Strange Journey to the West

[Rule-based horror] [live broadcast] [national destiny] [no female lead]

Rule-based horrors descend upon Blue Star, and the destiny of the Dragon Nation declines as the chosen ones struggle in despair.

The newly selected chosen one, Chen Xuan, is a shut-in who has read Journey to the West from cover to cover and knows mythological figures like the back of his hand.

When he is sent to Gao Laozhuang, bone-white and eerie, and sees Zhu Bajie turned into a pig-faced mass of rotten flesh, and Tang Sanzang with empty eyes who only chants sutras, he is stunned.

This is Journey to the West?

In an S-rank instance, the other chosen ones are chased to the point of soul scattering by monsters, trying to pacify them with Buddhism or resist them with force.

Chen Xuan, however, discovers that the rules of this horror instance are actually based on the monsters’ perspective in Journey to the West and a warped sense of social relations.

Clear through interaction? Act out a role? Easy!

At the start, he plays Sha Seng, who has been demoted to the mortal world and stripped of all magic, but by relying on his deep understanding of the internal conflicts within the pilgrimage team and his knowledge of the backgrounds of all kinds of monsters, he smoothly navigates between Tang Sanzang, Zhu Bajie, and Sun Wukong.

He is not traveling to obtain scriptures; he is "setting straight" this bizarre Journey to the West team, using the monsters’ weaknesses and relationship webs to turn the horror instance into a Shura field where gods fight and mortals eat popcorn.

While the other chosen ones are still avoiding monsters, Chen Xuan is already charging through the bizarre Journey to the West with the Dragon Nation, leading the Dragon Nation to become Blue Star’s strongest country.

"I thought I was watching Journey to the West, but I turned out to be the... ‘mastermind’ behind Journey to the West."
