Reunion in the Blooming Season, Without Dreams

Wu Siya wanders the corners and dusk of the city. His scavenging is not only a way to survive, but also resistance against forgetting. By chance, he touches an abandoned old music box and unexpectedly sees a memory that does not belong to him: the smile of a little girl by birthday candlelight, and her shattered crying. From then on, this strange ability awakens, and discarded objects become vessels of memory. He picks up a thrown-away teddy bear and feels the despair of an unemployed father and his deep love for his daughter; picks up a faded hairpin and witnesses a youthful affection forced apart by illness; picks up a torn IOU and glimpses the bitterness of two friends turning against each other over money.

These fragments of memory, like puzzle pieces scattered on the ground, reflect the folds and shadows behind the city’s prosperous curtain: material hardship, emotional estrangement, the collapse of dreams, and the unpredictability of life and death. While collecting them, Wu Siya passively becomes a vessel for countless joys and sorrows. He is not a savior, and can only treat these memories with silent respect, sometimes feeling heavy from his inability to change anything.
