Aoki Anhao / Abe Anhao: a non-pure-blood descendant of a severed bloodline of onmyoji. At age four, her mother traded her life for hers so Anhao could escape. She was then taken in by Aoki Ka, a genius ninja of Sunagakure, and entered the ninja world.

She became friends with Gaara and Shukaku, drawing the attention of the Fourth Kazekage. At age nine, she was sent to Konohagakure to make contact with the Nine-Tails.

There she befriends Sasuke and catches Itachi’s attention, as he plans to use her to help Sasuke awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan.

At age eleven, the Fourth Kazekage sends her to the Chunin Exams. Orochimaru appears, and Aoki Ka dies in her place, giving her his heart to save her.

After that, everyone lies to her—telling her Aoki Ka is on a long-term mission...

When Gaara becomes Kazekage, he mobilizes the whole of Sunagakure to keep lying to her...

Anhao can no longer bear it. She leaves Sunagakure and sets off on a wandering journey to find Aoki Ka...

She meets Akatsuki, meets Orochimaru, meets the Abe clan’s pursuers, meets the tailed beasts... and yet she never meets Aoki Ka.
