"I hope you stay alone for the rest of your life."

Whether those words were sincere when they first met, Ga-yeon, the mistress of Gyo-tae Palace, has spent nine years in the palace being ignored and treated coldly by her husband, Seo.

Even so, just as she could not sever the sprout of love for him, after losing her only blood relative, her older brother, she finally decides to leave the palace.

"I should become a discarded wife."

But before that, wanting to get back at Seo, Ga-yeon leaves the palace in men’s clothes and meets Seo, who is out on secret inspection at Eunwol Lake, bathed in moonlight.

Drunk on the moonlight and drunk on alcohol, she boldly strikes up a conversation with him and ends up speaking with Seo as a scholar named Jo...

"Would you like to step over the threshold once?"

"If I do, will I become a eunuch like you?"

"No. If you become a eunuch now, you’ll die bleeding."

"Then?"

"Wouldn’t it be nice to roam under the moonlight together?"

"You mean go out on nocturnal outings?"

Thus begins Ga-yeon and Seo’s moonlit night outings.

Will spring finally come to Gyo-tae Palace, known as the cold palace?
