Kuben Wiers, a painter looked down on for being an alpha, meets the special duke’s daughter, Pesha Kihohte, at a duke’s mansion where he has come to fulfill a portrait commission.

“...Are you an alpha?”

“Yes, I am.”

Kuben’s life had been ordinary to the point of being boxed in. Even the discrimination he suffered for being an alpha had become familiar.

Omegaverse setting within <Masterpiece>

Beta

- Ordinary people.

- Upper class.

- More than half the world’s population.

- Cannot smell the pheromones of alphas or omegas.

Omega

- Humans, regardless of sex, who can bear children.

- Middle class.

- The smallest population share.

- Protected by the government. Omegas of common birth are placed in jobs through employment placement, living in royal courts or nobles’ territories.

Alpha

- Humans, regardless of sex, who can impregnate others.

- Lower class.

- Population roughly equal to or smaller than betas.

- Large-bodied, darker-skinned.

- Socially viewed poorly because of promiscuous sex lives. If they have talent in some field, they are recognized; if not, they make a living begging for food.

Manifestation: innate or acquired. If acquired, it must occur by the day one becomes an adult, without exception (age 18).

Pheromone suppressants: medicine taken by alphas and omegas. It only prevents pheromones that leak out unconsciously; it cannot prevent pheromones released by will.

Alphas and omegas have a “pheromone gland” at the nape of the neck that emits their scent. They react intensely to the other’s pheromones; alphas go into rut, omegas into heat cycles. The cycle lengths vary.

Bonding

- Only possible between alpha and omega.

- During intimacy, one can bite the pheromone gland at the nape of the neck.

- Once bonded, they react only to their “mate,” and only the two of them can conceive and give birth. If a partner dies, the bond is broken.
