Pei Su crosses over into a world where Daoist deities manifest in the mortal world.

The orthodox Daoist gods stand high above in the Thirty-three Heavens, protecting humankind; the lesser spirits dwell in shrines and temples, blessing the land. A million deities have long become part of every aspect of daily life, building a vast divine system, and from it have emerged such strange professions as mountain-and-river runner, night scout, household guardian spirit, god of fortune, and lord of Chicheng.

And yet this world is also watched by extraterritorial heavenly demons. Even with a million gods protecting them, people can only huddle in a corner and struggle to survive.

The world is waiting for a new orthodox god to descend.

Pei Su looks at the vacant orthodox divine seat above the Thirty-three Heavens and chooses the most exalted one without hesitation: Ziwei Dadi, the Heavenly Venerable of the North Star!
