Jade Covering the Flowers

“When two people meet at the time when beautiful flowers are in full bloom, they bear the fruit of fate.”

Zhengyun, the ninth daughter of the renowned Bu family, had been learning everything she was supposed to learn as a daughter of a high-status household under strict rules, and was waiting for the day she would marry. Then one day, because of a plot by Zuo Jungang, a family acquaintance, Zhengyun was sent to Biyunsi to wait while matters were sorted out. But there was no news from home. As she spent her days in torment, Zhengyun met a man. He was expressionless and did not speak much.

Through that man, she learned that she had ultimately been abandoned by her family, and with his help she escaped a brush with death. Having been abandoned by her family and with no way forward, Zhengyun ends up traveling briefly with him. In a time of famine, when people are dying and killing, Zhengyun can do nothing but cry.

The man had only intended to help for a short while, as a matter of chivalry, but one unexpected event after another caused the time they spent together to grow longer and longer. And so, as they traveled a long road together, love began to bloom between them.
