I Know You Love Me So, So Much

“The person who truly loves you has keen eyes. They can tell at a glance how sincere others are toward you. If you ever have someone you like in the future, bring them to let your second brother take a look, because he won’t bear to see you unhappy.” — Jiang Xun #Gān Lái, age gap of 10 years, the male lead falls first

Others have many things to say about Jiang Xun, such as his sharp business insight or his composed style of handling affairs while silently controlling the whole situation.

But in Gan Lai’s eyes, her second brother is a very gentle person. He gently caught all her grief and wordlessly gave her an impregnable harbor. So when she discovered his feelings, her reaction was not fear or avoidance, but worry. What she had to do was dangerous; she did not want to drag him into the mud, and she did not even dare imagine how he would get through that long life if she were no longer there.

Jiang Xun never understood what his grandmother meant when she said those words before her death, until he was certain that his love for Gan Lai was love of the romantic kind. Yan Bai asked him, “Are you sure your feelings for her are love?”

“She takes up too much weight in my life, so I was more afraid than you that I had confused things, which is why I confirmed it countless times,” he answered.

Much later, Gan Lai saw the words he had handwritten in the study: “I have never been this timid. More than her returning my love, I am afraid of a rift opening between us. So I kept silent about love, just as for the past ten years I only played the role of her second brother. Until that day, one of her friends told me, ‘I asked her who you are, and she personally told me: you are her lover.’

Then I calmly admitted it: ‘Yes, she is my lover.’”
