I Just Danced Square Dance—Why Arrest Me?

Also known as: “The police force needs a genius investigator like me.”

Shi Jian has lived for twenty-two years and has always been different from everyone else. She has hyperthymesia, a solitary personality, a bad temper, and a childhood friend, Xie Chi, who sticks to her like glue no matter how hard she tries to shake him off.

After graduating from the Public Security University, Shi Jian, who lacked ambition, went to a local police station, while the annoying Xie Chi joined the criminal investigation team.

Shi Jian: Whatever, I don’t care.

When she accompanied her grandmother to square dance, she caught an indecent old pervert and unexpectedly helped solve a major case, so the station chief recommended her to the criminal investigation team—on Xie Chi’s squad.

Colleague: “Tell us about your reasoning process. What meticulous thinking and sharp tactics led you to catch the criminal?”

Shi Jian, seriously: “That old man’s dancing posture was wrong.”

Colleague: “.”

Shi Jian repeatedly makes outstanding contributions in the police force. In her coworkers’ eyes, she is a “little crime-solving expert” and an “overachiever with strong ambition,” especially since she always has to compete with Captain Xie for the upper hand.

The shipping squad: Wow, they’re clearly in love and are the best partners!

But the real Shi Jian is: “I’m sick of this overtime.” “Hurry up and catch the criminal so you don’t delay my spicy and sour noodles.” “What? There’s a bonus for solving this case? I’m in!”

As for Xie Chi, Shi Jian thinks: I’ll get rid of this clingy pest sooner or later. I’ll rise to the top on my own!!
