“Why can’t I become a magician?”

“Child, magic is the most wondrous power in the world. If we want to fully control it, we must borrow the power of gods. There is only one possible reason you cannot make a contract with a god: you are a person abandoned by the gods. How can someone abandoned by the gods practice magic?”

“Why do you have to make a contract with a god to practice magic, and there is another possibility if you cannot contract with a god!”

“What possibility?”

“I am a god too!” the nine-year-old Gaia answered.
