In the fictional kingdom of Dan-guk, Ukje, the king, selects So-hye, who is ugly and young, to become his queen.

Ukje, who was preoccupied with Huiran of Wolseong Palace, pays no attention to So-hye, the owner of Gyotaejeon, for years. As So-hye grows up and becomes more beautiful, Ukje slowly starts to have his heart stolen by her, but the absent-minded queen is only afraid of Ukje, who keeps acting meanly toward her, and when Ukje sees this, he only gets even angrier. This vicious cycle continues.
