Duan Yizhonghai and Sha Zhu’s Hand—After Castrating Sha Zhu

Winter, 1960. Lin Dong, badly wounded, returns to Beijing after being transferred from the army. What awaits him is not glory, but the predatory fangs of Courtyard No. 95 in Nanluoguxiang.

A former food-delivery worker in his previous life and a combat hero in this one, with two souls merged into one, he faces the ultimate test the moment he steps off the train: Yi Zhonghai, the so-called moral paragon, forcing his mother to give up her room; Sha Zhu, the obsessive simp, trying to marry his younger sister into the same room; and the beastly neighbors, celebrating as they try to devour the family’s propertyless household!

But this time they’ve kicked a steel plate. A spirit spring inside him washes his meridians and refines his body, a pocket dimension ring hides tens of thousands of mu of fertile land, his old commander is his backing, and the security office is his blade.

When Sha Zhu kicks open the wooden door of the Lin household, Lin Dong is using a bullet dipped in baijiu to write his investigation report—the first chapter is called “A Study of 100 Ways to Deal with Beasts.”

Yi Zhonghai is still scheming about his Level 8 worker pension? Lin Dong smiles and turns over the old ledger of his father’s stolen post. Sha Zhu dreams of becoming the tyrant of the canteen? Lin Dong takes over the entire steel rolling mill’s security office in one move. Qin Huairu cries that the children are hungry? Lin Dong hauls in half a pig and grills it in public: “Come, eat on your knees!”

This is a dimensionality-reduction strike from a peak king of soldiers. When the people in the courtyard think they’re playing at human relationships and social maneuvering, Lin Dong simply flips the table: “What sense is there in reasoning with beasts? Does a shooting list need signatures?”

Watch as Lin Dong uses an officer’s overcoat to catch every conspiracy and smashes every beastly fantasy with his military merits. In this courtyard full of calculation, he will write the most satisfying legend in the most arrogant way—

I’m not here to join the game. I’m here to change the rules!
