A Proxy Mal Guide

Kang Hajung, a war hero and guide whose body is covered in the scars of old glory and new injuries, is on the verge of retirement when he is assigned to guide Kim Mu-hyeok, a rookie who has just been brought to the center.

“...If he doesn’t receive guiding, Kim Mu-hyeok will die.”

He only saved him because he couldn’t bring himself to kill him, but he ends up being tied to Kim Mu-hyeok, a high-grade esper who is unmatched in history.

His long-awaited retirement goes out the window, and to make matters worse, he becomes Mu-hyeok’s pair guide, despite the huge age gap. Then one day, while on a mission, he is shot and dies.

With the regret that he should have retired before dying, he opens his eyes and finds that the person in the mirror is an unfamiliar guide, staring back in shock while clutching his own cheek. Hajung learns that he has woken up in another person’s body, in a center five years in the future.

Only then does he discover that his real body has already been given a funeral.

For a moment he is confused, but then Hajung remembers the dream he had put off for so long: retirement.

“If it’s come to this, I’m getting discharged before anyone finds out.”
