A Fated Immortal Field Hides the Vast Void; Prove Immortality with the Five-Element Failed Root

Lin Taixu died suddenly at work as a corporate drone, and because of a mysterious bead, his soul crosses into a world of cultivation.

When the Qingyun Immortal Sect comes down the mountain to recruit disciples, he is turned away for having useless five-element spiritual roots. For five hundred taels, he could buy a spot as a handyman disciple. Five hundred taels is enough to stump a hero, and with his ordinary family background, even if he sold everything they own, he still could not gather that much.

At the same time, his childhood sweetheart, Zhu Rongrong, awakens the talent of a dual spiritual root and is favored by the immortals, receiving a reward of one thousand taels in silver to support the family. When Lin Taixu's mother goes to borrow money, she is humiliated and rejected. The Zhu family wants to keep that thousand taels to buy a luxury house in the city, believing that Lin Taixu has useless roots and will never amount to anything, much less repay any money. Zhu Rongrong's mother even uses five taels of silver to cancel the childhood betrothal.

His father sells inherited belongings, his mother pawns her jewelry, and they beg everywhere. His younger uncle reluctantly lends eight taels, and his second uncle immediately takes out eighty. Even after pooling everything together, they still only raise a little over two hundred taels.

Seeing all the warmth and coldness of human relationships, Lin Taixu does not want his parents to keep begging. Instead, he makes a deal with Wanmabuilding. Wanmabuilding lends him three hundred taels, to be repaid tenfold in three years. If he cannot do it, his life belongs to Wanmabuilding, and they may kill or punish him as they wish.

He finally raises five hundred taels and enters the immortal gate as he wished. From then on, once inside the immortal sect, he falls into a deeper sea, becoming an even more advanced corporate drone...
