A Deceptive Marriage That Turns Out to Be Useful

"This is just a fraud marriage, young master."

I married Eric Orléans in a surprise ceremony after eloping with the man who was supposed to be my older brother.

Originally, the person who should have been standing here now was our mother and Eric Orléans’s father.

‘If I get caught, I’m dead.’

My mother, seeing me getting married at her own wedding venue, mouthed those words.

Sorry, Mom. But this is all for our family.

We can’t let our family be wiped out by a psycho stepfather, can we?

Flash! Flash! Flash!

The cameras went off.

The headline in tomorrow’s paper would probably be something like this:

[Eric Orléans elopes and abruptly marries the daughter of the Duke of Orléans’s fiancée!]

[They even kissed in the chapel...]

It’s a total mess, but it’s a fraud marriage anyway, so what does it matter?

***

But this marriage didn’t go the way I expected.

Eric kept doing this! Without warning! For days! Every time he saw me!

"Did you come back from training?"

"Yeah, were you doing well? I like you."

"...What are you talking about? We can’t even have a conversation..."

"I thought you were just thinking it, but you said it out loud."

...

"Why are you bringing flowers?"

"I brought them for you. Do you like flowers?"

"Ah... no... flowers can kill you if you eat them wrong...? Once, I was so hungry I picked and ate flowers and fainted before..."

"These aren’t for eating, they’re for looking at. Ornamental."

"...Why look at them?"

"Because it makes me feel good? The same way I feel good when I look at you?"

A confession was thrown down.
